What a delight it was to witness the wedding of Duncan and Katie, a day brimming with love, laughter, and cherished memories. I had the privilege of being a part of this special occasion, which was not only a celebration of their union but also a heartwarming reunion with old friends and beloved families.
Duncan and Katie’s wedding took place at the stunning Manning residence, a hidden gem nestled deep off the main road and surrounded by serene farmer’s fields. The picturesque setting was nothing short of magical, with a glamorous marquee tent elegantly set up for the festivities. The ceremony was held on a beautiful hilltop, centered around a charming pergola that provided the perfect backdrop for their vows.
The day was extra special for me because of the connections I share with both Duncan and Katie. I first met Duncan when he was a camper at the YMCA camp where I worked as a counselor. His older brothers, Silas and Owen, were also campers with me back in 2011. The Manning family is renowned for their incredible kindness and sense of humour, and it was heartwarming to see them all come together to celebrate this joyous occasion.
Katie and I first crossed paths while working as lifeguards at the YMCA in Waterloo. Little did I know that Duncan and Katie had actually met at camp, the very same place where I had the honour of being Duncan’s counselor. This serendipitous connection added an extra layer of meaning to the day.
The celebration was a whirlwind of fun and excitement, featuring a set of relay races in tournament style that had everyone on their feet and laughing. As the evening progressed, a lively pool party rounded off the festivities. It was a unique and memorable wedding that perfectly captured the spirit of Duncan and Katie.
Thank you, Duncan and Katie, for allowing me to be a part of your special day and for giving me the chance to reconnect with old friends. Your wedding was a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from celebrating life’s milestones with those who matter most.
